Ok, this band is far too crazy, messed up and dysfunctional not to have its own blog.
Apart from the creative tension of coming up with new tunes and agreeing on whose house to jam at and who owes who beers or money, the band seems to have a knack for finding trouble. It all makes for interesting times, and provides lots of good writing material for the band to work with.
So, this is our first blog post. The band played Monday night at the Horseman Tavern in an unrehearsed and raw set, and it was fun and well received by the fairly young and only slightly drunk crowd. It was the night after Canada won hockey gold in the Olympics, so people were cheered and beered out, but it was a fun night.
The Wannamaker Band's next big gig / project? We are organizing a major music festival / concert this summer: Georgina Salutes! It will be a rock and rally to show this community's support for our troops serving in Afghanistan. Make sure to book July 17, 2010 on your calendars. We need your support and your money! Part of the funds will go to two important military charities, and what else are you going to do on a nice hot summer night in July? The event is being held at the Sutton Fairgrounds. We are looking for additional bands to join the roster, and we are also interested in lining up volunteers and sponsors. Spread the word!
Visit: www.georginasalutes.com for more event details or visit here for updates.
Over and out.
